About Norman Freyer
Norman Freyer is a watercolorist from Homosassa, FL. He is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, and spent nearly 40 years in sales and marketing in the animal health sector of the pharmaceutical industry. He studied watercolor techniques under Marion Langlois at the Withlacoochee Technical Institute in Inverness from 1999 to 2002. In addition, he has studied in watercolor workshops with such noted artists as Tom Jones, Chuck MacClachlan, Ken Hosmer, Kathleen Hoffsinger, Steve Rogers and Paul George.
Mr. Freyer is a member of the Art Center of Citrus County, the Citrus Watercolor Club, the Nature Coast Painters and an associate member of the Florida Watercolor Society. He served as president of the Citrus Watercolor Club 2008 – 2010. His paintings are exhibited regularly in the Art Center Gallery in Hernando. His work has been the featured exhibit at the Chronicle Gallery in Inverness, the Art Center CC East Gallery in Hernando, FL and the Art Center CC Theater Gallery. He was an exhibiting artist at the 2007 Spring/Summer Art Exhibit at the Brooksville City Hall Gallery. His painting, Fishy Business was exhibited in the 2009 Florida Watercolor Society “On-line Show”, the painting Gentle Giants was exhibited on the 2012 FWS On-Line Show, and his painting “Palm Tracks” is exhibited in the 2014 FWS On-line show.
Recent awards include the Award of Excellence at the 2007 Manatee Festival & St. Petersburg Times Fine Art Show, the Award of Merit at the 2008 Manatee Festival, and the First Place Award in all media at the 2009 Homosassa Seafood Festival, as well as the Second Place Award in 2010, the Award of Excellence at the Festival of the Arts in 2011, Best of Show in all media at the Homosassa Seafood Festival in 2011, and Best of Show at the 2012 - 18th Annual CWC Show & Sale. Featured artist at the 2012 Homosassa Seafood Festival. Best of Show in 2013 Nature Coast Exhibit #1, Art Center of Citrus County.
In addition to completing a number of commission works, individual collectors in Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, New Jersey, Texas, California, New York and Pennsylvania have purchased his paintings for their collections.
